In 2013/14 the Government made a specific grant available to fund improvements in the provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport in schools for children aged 5 to 11 years to help pupils develop healthy lifestyles. At New Ash Green Primary School we have had the following results of our swimming lessons:
- 86% of Year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres when they left our school at the end of last academic year.
- 84% of Year 6 pupils could use a range of strokes effectively (for example, front craw, backstroke and breaststroke) when they left our school at the end of the last academic year.
- 70% of Year 6 pupils could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations when they left our school at the end of the last academic year.
